Inverting Pill Bottles Over a Dead Plate

Customer Container Handling Challenge

A manufacturer preparing for a trade show at Pack Expo required a solution to handle pill bottles efficiently in a demonstration loop. The challenge involved inverting filled pill bottles to empty their contents into a dump area and then reinverting the bottles to their upright position for refilling. The solution needed to provide precise control during the inversion and reinversion processes while maintaining product integrity during testing to evaluate pill extraction.

Morrison Solution

To meet the customer’s requirements, Morrison designed a Twist Block assembly tailored for the specified pill bottles. The solution included:

  • Twist Blocks: Two Twist Blocks were engineered—one for inverting the pill bottles and another for reinverting them to their upright position. These blocks were optimized for seamless integration into the customer’s show loop setup.
  • Mounting Items: Each Twist Block was equipped with all necessary mounting components, ensuring compatibility with the customer’s existing system.
  • Testing and Validation: The design allowed for testing to determine the efficiency of pill extraction during the inversion process, ensuring the desired results for the Pack Expo demonstration.

Construction

The Twist Blocks were constructed with robust materials to handle the filled pill bottles with precision and reliability. The durable design provided consistent performance during high-visibility trade show demonstrations, emphasizing Morrison’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Results

Morrison’s Twist Block assembly provided an effective and adaptable solution for the customer’s Pack Expo demonstration. Key outcomes included:

  • Efficient Inversion and Reinversion: The Twist Blocks performed flawlessly, managing the inversion and reinversion of pill bottles without compromising their structural integrity and with the use of backlog to drive the solution.
  • Adaptability for Testing: The system’s design supported testing to evaluate pill extraction, allowing the customer to refine their process as needed.
  • Seamless Integration: The provided mounting items provided easy setup and integration into the demonstration loop, saving time and effort.

The final solution showcased Morrison’s engineering expertise and demonstrated their ability to deliver customized container handling solutions for unique applications.
