Orienting Chemicals

Customer Container Handling Challenge

A customer needed Gallon jugs of household cleaner to be oriented to be handle trailing prior to entering the next application on the packaging line.

Morrison Solution

Our expert engineers We devised a dual stacked screw orientation system that accepts the empty, light bottles and controls them through the orientation process.

The chemical bottles enter the assembly at random orientation. The stacked screw system controls the screws positively and keeps them upright as they approach the metal rail. The sheet metal rail orients the handles on the gallons to be handle trailing and the small metal rod maintains that orientation as they discharge through the system.

Construction

Morrison’s innovative solution was constructed from stainless steel and UHMW plastic. Providing a durable and lightweight construction solution.

Results

The implementation of Morrison’s dual stacked screw orientation system significantly improved the customer’s production line. The system effectively oriented the gallon jugs with their handles trailing, ensuring positive container handling from the infeed to the discharge. This solution streamlined the handling process, reduced manual intervention and improved throughput while reducing downtime on the production line.
