Our customer’s production line required a combining process to run at the most optimal level, with downstream equipment (ex: filler) running faster than upstream equipment (ex: unscrambler). To offset these speed differentials, the line had two unscramblers to keep the filler running at the most optimal level. The challenge and question that arose was; if one of the unscramblers goes down, how does the line continue to run?
To answer that dilemma, Morrison developed the Dynamic Smart Combining System to allow for downstream processes to continuously run, no matter what happens in the two upstream lanes. Each upstream lane may have issues that arise that cause the machines to start or stop throughout the day. However, the Dynamic Combiner automatically adjusts to the line conditions which allows for the downstream equipment to continue to run and keep production levels high. The discharge of the machine will continuously run, while the infeed sections will have synchronized stops or starts to feed product efficiently downstream. This solution optimizes the total production uptime.
Morrison’s innovative solution was constructed from black anodized aluminum and plastic UHMW timing screws. Stainless steel is available for a cheaper design.
