The customer needed a solution to turn lubrication bottles 180 degrees before cartoning to ensure the label faced outward. The challenge was compounded by limited space available for installing the equipment.
Morrison’s engineering team developed a dual timing screw drive system to meet this challenge. This system effectively turns the containers 180 degrees, transitioning them from bump leading to bump trailing as they move through the screws. The compact footprint of the system was designed specifically to fit within the customer’s limited space.
To handle the two different container sizes, the system includes change parts for the infeed guides. These guides control the containers as they enter the infeed side of the timing screw, reducing the risk of fallen containers and enhancing stability. Additionally, the system features “No Tools” Quick Change timing screws, allowing for seamless transitions between running the 2.5oz and 5oz container sizes on the same unit.
The dual turning timing screw drive unit is constructed from black anodized aluminum, providing a robust and lightweight solution ideal for high-speed operations.
By implementing Morrison’s compact and efficient solution, the customer achieved reliable container handling at an operating speed of 140 to 180 containers per minute (CPM). The system ensured that the lubrication bottles were turned 180 degrees with labels facing outward, ready for cartoning. The flexibility to accommodate different container sizes with quick change parts further enhanced operational efficiency and reduced downtime.
