Morrison’s engineering team rose to the occasion by designing a custom dual screw timing screw drive unit. This innovative system was specifically tailored to turn the petroleum jelly containers while maintaining positive control over them. The process begins with the containers entering the infeed side of the unit with their narrow ends facing forward. The dual screw mechanism carefully turns each container 90 degrees, ensuring that the caps remain securely in place. Once the containers exit the discharge end of the system, they are perfectly positioned with the wide end forward, ready for bundling down the production line.
Each container size runs on a specific set of timing screws that feature Morrison Quick-Change technology. This speeds up changeover time for operators and produces a flexible solution that can accommodate future container sizes.
The dual turning custom timing screw drive unit was constructed using black anodized aluminum, providing a durable and lightweight solution ideal for high-speed operations.
By implementing Morrison’s custom solution, the customer achieved seamless container handling at an operating speed of 150 containers per minute (CPM). The reliable turning mechanism ensured that caps stayed intact, thereby preventing any production delays or product wastage.
