Inverting Plastic Containers

Customer Container Handling Challenge

A plastic packaging manufacturer required new twist assemblies for four production lines to invert one lane each of empty plastic containers, rotating them 90 degrees at 100 containers per minute. The existing assemblies were not designed for this new container style, so an upgraded design was requested. The new assemblies needed to provide smooth and reliable handling for these semi-rigid containers.

Morrison Solution

Morrison created four custom-engineered twist assemblies designed specifically for the new container style. Additionally, Morrison engineers offered on-site evaluation, testing, and installation support to provide seamless integration into the manufacturer’s four production lines.

Construction

The assemblies featured welded stainless steel construction with snap-on liners made of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, offering durability and reduced wear for the plastic containers.

Results

To address the manufacturer’s need for an upgrade, Morrison Container Handling Solutions replaced four twist assemblies with new versions compatible with the new container style. The project included an on-site engineering evaluation, testing, and two days of installation and adjustment, all spread across several months to minimize production downtime. This approach successfully met the customer’s requirements while offering additional support as needed for extended service hours.
