Customer Container Handling Challenge 

A leading foodservice manufacturer needed a way to meter full, uncapped 64-ounce and 128-ounce rectangular BBQ bottles—narrow side leading and handle trailing—prior to a spindle capper. Inconsistent spacing between containers posed a risk of product splashing and inefficiencies during the capping process.

Morrison Solution 

Morrison designed a dual metering drive system with custom timing screws and shingle infeed guides to deliver consistent spacing. This approach supported both bottle sizes and helped regulate product flow to align with downstream spindle capping equipment.

Construction 

Features of the system include:

  • 4 UHMW timing screws with shingle infeed design.
  • Stainless steel frame and dual deluxe adjusters.
  • Epoxy-coated AB VPF servomotor with stainless steel upgrade for high washdown environments.
  • Optional NEMA 4X controls and stainless steel mounting stand.

Results

The system provided uniform spacing to reduce the risk of splashing during capping while accommodating high-volume production requirements. With shingle infeed and precise screw discharge pitch, the operation was optimized for better line flow, minimal manual intervention, and robust adaptability between bottle sizes.
