A prepared food manufacturer needed an innovative solution to a container handling problem. The manufacturer needed to divide one lane of product into two. The solution needed to be precise, run at a fast pace, and it needed to comply with the strict standards of the food industry.
Our electrical and mechanical design teams engineered a 2:1 Smart Combiner that combined uneven lanes of product. The containers were released 180 degrees out of phase and discharge rails merge the containers into one lane. The timing screws combine by releasing the containers out of phase in time. Morrison utilized our electrical controls team to design the controls on this project, integrated VPF Epoxy coated Food Grade servo motors and gearboxes.
Full guarding was also provided on this project.
This system was constructed from stainless steel for a high washdown application. The timing screws were made from food-safe UHMW plastic, providing a robust and lightweight construction solution.
Morrison’s innovative solution significantly improved the customer’s production throughput. The 2:1 smart combiner successfully divided the product into two lanes. Allowing the customer to meet high production standards and efficient container handling. This system met the expectations of the customer and the food industry.
