Education has always been a core value at Morrison Container Handling Solutions. We believe in actively supporting continuing education within the community and making it an integral part of our mission.

That’s why our latest partnership with OAI (Opportunity Advancement Innovations in Workforce Development) made perfect sense. OAI is dedicated to offering training and education to underserved communities that experience higher unemployment rates and greater barriers to entering various industries. Through their support, Morrison has connected with OAI interns pursuing careers in manufacturing, two of whom have since been brought onto its team. Take a chance to meet these interns and learn more about them below.

Chantel Galvan

  • What’s your position here at Morrison?
    • I am helping with assembly, routering, and bearings.
  • What’s something interesting you’re hoping to learn or gain from this internship?
    • I want to learn more about all the things that happen at the company. Everything is very new to me.
  • What’s something you’ve already learned?
    • I learned how to use the routering tables, how to polish different machines, and was shown each little part of the machines and how they work.
  • What’s something you like about the day-to-day here at Morrison?
    • I really like the people. This is not an average work environment, but a calm one that allows me to feel comfortable.
  • What brought you to the manufacturing or packaging industry?
    • I have worked in construction in the past, which gave me my passion for building and servicing. The work that I do comes naturally to me and gives me happiness and peace.
  • What hobbies are you interested in?
    • I am an outdoorsy person and enjoy spending my free time outside or camping.

Cortez Jackson

  • What’s your position here at Morrison?
    • I am working with the Marketing team.
  • What’s something interesting you’re hoping to learn or gain from this internship?
    • I want to expand my creativity, improve my typing, and learn more about the manufacturing industry through hands-on experience.
  • What’s something you’ve already learned?
    • I learned how to use Microsoft Excel and Adobe Photoshop. I also improved my skills with a DSLR camera, such as how to position the camera and use the gridlines. Finally, I learned the different types of timing screws and machinery by working through the company’s data.
  • What’s something you like about the day-to-day here at Morrison?
    • I like a lot about the company. I am automatically happy when I show up, the environment is uplifting, and I enjoy the work that I do.
  • What brought you to the manufacturing or packaging industry?
    • I was interested in the way that there are many different methods for getting something done. Engineers bounce ideas off each other to come to a solution, which I find very cool.
  • What hobbies are you interested in?
    • I enjoy video games and watching movies, but most of all, taking care of my family.
