Combine and Divide 5 Hour Energy

Customer Container Handling Challenge

A beverage manufacturer needed a solution to divide two lanes of cans, meter two lanes prior to dual Mettler Toledo checkweighers at 300-325 cpm, and then combine the lanes back into one before reaching the can printer.

Morrison Solution

Morrison developed a system with dual lane infeed and outfeed conveyors, a 1:2 divider, LH and RH metering CDAs, a 2:1 combiner, and AB NEMA 4X AC controls. The 16 oz cold-filled cans are inverted and checkweighed upside down for stability. Designed for high washdown environments, Morrison controls signal to the checkweighers without controlling them.

Construction

Morrison’s durable solution withstands high-pressure washdowns, features robust OSHA guarding, NEMA 4X controls, and ensures smooth lane transitions with a 1:2 divider and 2:1 combiner.

Results

The system efficiently divided, metered, and recombined cans for precise checkweighing and printing, enhancing stability, safety, and throughput in high-pressure environments.
