Handling small Chapstick containers was challenging as they needed to be “squared up” when entering the labeler. The containers were fed randomly and required metering for stability during labeling.
Morrison designed a timing screw drive unit to accept the randomly fed Chapstick containers and meter them to a constant pitch of 6 inches. This ensured the containers were placed flat on the conveyor chain links, creating stability for the labeling application. The positive control provided by the timing screws ensured precise handling of the difficult containers.
The dual mini metering custom drive assembly is constructed from black anodized aluminum, ensuring durability and lightweight operation.
By implementing Morrison’s custom solution, the customer achieved efficient and stable handling of Chapstick containers at an operating speed of 120 containers per minute (CPM). The system’s precise metering ensured a seamless labeling process, enhancing overall productivity and reducing potential handling issues.
