Turning Cheese Trays

Customer Container Handling Challenge

Our customer wanted a system that would accept square cheese trays and turn them 90 degrees from wide side leading to narrow side leading after leaving a sealer. This system needed to operate at 11 cycles per minute or 121 containers per minute.

Morrison Solution

Our engineers designed a timing screw drive to rotate cheese trays 90 degrees, from wide to narrow side leading, at 11 cycles per minute, discharging 121 trays per minute. The solution included slowing the conveyor and screws, with a downstream photoeye to prevent jams.

Construction

The system was constructed from Stainless steel and food-safe UHMW plastic. This system met all of the standards of the dairy industry.

Results

The custom solution successfully rotated the containers from wide side leading to narrow side leading at 121 CPM, enhancing efficiency and throughput.
