Metering Glass Mayo Jars for Labeling

Food Handling Solution

Case Study: Dual Metering Custom Timing Screw Drive Unit

INDUSTRY: Food / Condiments | OPERATING SPEED: 60 CPM

CONTAINER: Round and Square Glass Mayo Jars

Customer Container Handling Challenge: A variety of glass containers needed to be spaced so labels could be applied. The plant was also seeing multiple jams with original equipment.

Morrison Solution: We engineered a custom timing screw drive assembly that metered the containers to a proper spacing for a labeling application.

One system had multiple sets of screws to accommodate the glass square and round containers that would be run at different times on the same line. Utilizing Morrison Deluxe Adjusters, operators can easily adjust the unit during changeover of different container sizes.

To address the jams in the previous equipment, Morrison added shingle infeed rails that solved the feeing issues seen from the weight of the container. These rails positioned the containers appropriately to minimize jamming and was a solution to a common problem customers see. The highlight of these guide rails is they are quick change parts, so during changeover operators can easily swap them out to accommodate the new container size.
