Meet Mike Soldan
Engineering Intern
UNIVERSITY: Valparaiso University
MAJOR: Mechanical Engineering
YEAR IN SCHOOL: Senior
MORRISON DEPARTMENT: Engineering - Custom Drive Assemblies
HOBBY: Frisbee Golf
Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I look forward to helping design and developing more skills in engineering.
Q: What department are you working in?
A: I am currently working in CDA (Custom Drive Assemblies) within the Engineering Department.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I have learned Inventor, Fusion 360, AutoCad, and many different skills that involve hands on work to test prototype machines.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am very excited to use my skills to help the company succeed and continue to grow!
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: A solid understanding of how the engineering process functions in a work environment and as much design work that I can get.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am currently working on a few projects. I am animating a machine assembly in Fusion 360 so the customer can see their machine before it is even built. I am also designing more Lexan shields that go in between the desks to promote visibility of others and safety. Lastly, I am making a prototype assembly that will be tested in the next few weeks and hopefully used after prototyping.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I love the work environment here and learning new things every day. I enjoy being able to come in and talk with my co-workers and gain knowledge from them. I also enjoy that I am never doing just one thing.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: I enjoy engineering in the packaging industry because there is a lot of variation and freedom with each project. There is also a lot of custom design work, which I enjoy a lot!
Meet Kathryn Bryzgalski
Engineering Intern

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to getting to apply what I learned in the classroom to real-life engineering projects.
Q: What department are you working in?
A: I am currently working in Change Parts within the Engineering Department.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: How important it is to be organized when working with others.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to learn more about the packaging industry and engineering industry, in general.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I want to improve my general engineering knowledge by using practical experience.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am currently doing maintenance for change parts job information in the Vault.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I like there is always something new to learn across several different projects!
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: There is so much variety of different companies and jobs that we work with.
Meet Jackson Heintz
IT Support Intern

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to learning more computer engineering skills that can help me within the workplace.
Q: What department are you working in?
A: I am currently working in the Information Technology Department.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I’ve learned to work with others better and split my time more efficiently between different projects.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to work with different programming languages.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I want to develop more interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work with others more efficiently.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am currently working as IT support and my day to day projects change frequently.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I enjoy being able to work with others in my department who can teach me new skills and value the skills I already have.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: I think the fact that a machine can move fast, yet efficient is mind blowing.
Meet Tim Petroulakis
Manufacturing Intern

HOBBY: Machining
Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to finding ways to improve the efficiency in the lathe department and increase its productivity.
Q: What department are you working in?
A: I am currently working in the Lathe Department.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I have learned about a lot of the nuances to CNC machining that I did not realized were as complicated as they are.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to learn more about operation but also want to learn to better understand the code that runs each machine.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I want to learn how to help organize a group of people to make the workplace design more efficient.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am currently testing out and proofing the different processors on a brand-new lathe machine that is running a different style of coding.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I enjoy being able to come in and turn my hobby into work.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: I like that everyday is different. It isn’t just a machine constantly doing the same thing. Each machine is designed different and I enjoy how every machine is different.
Meet Ben Klebs
Mechatronics Intern

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to learning more about the different aspects of operation as a whole.
Q: What department are you working in?
A: I am currently working in the Controls Department.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I just learned how to read Electrical prints.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to work with AutoCad electrical more this summer.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I want to not only develop my communication skills but also understand schematics and prints more!
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am working with a main control panel as well as other machines for our customers.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: Being part of a workplace. I love coming in everyday and being able to work efficiently with my coworkers.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: The automation of everything really fascinates me.

Communications Intern

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to being able to see marketing and communications hands on in the field.
Q: What department are you working in?
A: I am currently working in the Communications Department.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I learned Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am super excited to be working with video production this summer!
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I want to be able to identify different types of marketing and communications in a workplace setting instead of defining them by textbook definitions.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am currently writing blog posts, editing manuals, and working on a video to capture Morrison as a whole.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I love the fast pace environment. Sometimes I come in and am going back and forth from my desk to video production in the shop. It keeps me on my toes!
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: I think it’s very cool to see how some of the products I use or see every day are moved across packaging lines.

Communications Intern

Q: What is something you are looking forward to this summer with your internship?
A: I am looking forward to being able to learn a different side of engineering.
Q: What department are you working in?
A: I am currently working in the Engineering Department.
Q: What is something you have already learned being here?
A: I recently learned the program AutoCad.
Q: What is something you are excited to learn/delve into this summer?
A: I am excited to learn what goes into the cost of each part/assembly.
Q: What skills do you wish to develop while you are here?
A: I want to be able to further develop my communication skills and the ability to work with others.
Q: What current projects are you working on?
A: I am currently working on several projects that streamline the quoting process.
Q: What is your favorite part about coming to work every day?
A: I enjoy being able to earn new skills and techniques that well help me in the future.
Q: What is something you like about working in the packing industry?
A: I like being able to see all the different projects related to the packaging industry and constantly getting to work with them.
