Metering and Inverting Tall Containers

Customer Container Handling Challenge

A food manufacturer faced a unique challenge in their production line: they needed to meter and invert tall, round, tubular containers made of cardboard. These containers had to be spaced and inverted for a downstream application. Additionally, the system needed to handle both tall and short containers from a random and choke feed scenario.

Morrison Solution

To overcome this unique challenge, our experienced engineers develop a stacked dual timing screw drive unit that fed into our twist block. This solution provided a simple approach to a complex task, with only three moving parts: the dual timing screws and the conveyor. Also, the system could accept containers either right-side up or upside down.

Construction

The system was constructed from anodized aluminum, offering a remarkably durable and lightweight solution suitable for any operation. The timing screws and twist block are crafted from food-safe UHMW plastic, this system exceled past the specifications of both the customer, and the food industry.

Results

Morrison’s solution substantially improved the food manufacturers’ production efficiency. The stacked timing screw drive unit and the twist block can be removed and replaced from the system without the need of any tools. This combined with a robust metering and inverting system, helped to minimize downtime and increase their throughput.
