Education is part of our foundation and speaks to our core values at Morrison. We are dedicated to supporting our community when it comes to developing educational resources and opportunities as well as mentoring students. Recently, our Director of Sales, Dustin Lee, was invited to speak to students pursuing a Master of Business Administration from the University of New Haven.
“Education is a major initiative within Morrison. It’s important to us that we are involved and playing our part to give back to others driving to expand their horizons through education,” said Lee.
The discussion, which was held virtually for the course ‘Business Strategy and Change Management’, covered multiple topics including a focus on the importance of a company’s mission and vision, and how it impacts the strategy and success of that company.
“The class was actively engaged while learning how business strategies and methods are implemented in the real world,” said Lee. “Shedding light on our approach at Morrison by elaborating on how we face challenges and use our mission and vision as a guide when making decisions, helped the students of today realize how they can create a real impact in the future. It illustrated how their decisions help drive our economy forward.”
After the discussion, Lee expressed to the students how grateful he was for the opportunity to speak to the class. Jonathan Mays, Senior Associate Director of Athletics, host of the discussion summed up the event by saying, “The students in this class benefited greatly from hearing Dustin’s perspective on business strategy, data analytics, and building a vision for a multimillion-dollar organization. Dustin shared his experience in growing the sales team at Morrison and designing and implementing processes to increase revenue, topics that encapsulate the broader curriculum for this course. The back-and-forth dialogue between Dustin and the students demonstrated the impact that his words had on the class, and I am confident that many of them will be reaching out to Dustin in search of further lessons in business and in life.”
