A product manufacturer needed an indexing system that could live within their already established robotic pick and place framework
We designed a 2 lane, 4 screw system able to accept tapered fruit cups, right side up, from a backlog and hold them at a constant pitch for the robot to pick up 16 containers at a time, from each lane.
The system will meter and index 16 containers for pick and place. “No Tools” Quick Change screws and adjustments were provided to make changeover between the two container sizes easier. Our system fits within the pick and place system provided by the customer.
This system was constructed from stainless steel for a high washdown solution. The timing screws were made from plastic UHMW that is lightweight and food safe.
Morrison’s 2-lane, 4-screw indexing solution significantly improved the customer’s robotic pick and place framework. By keeping a constant pitch for the robotic pick-and-place operation, the system enabled the robot to pick up 16 containers at a time from each lane, optimizing the production process. Our “No Tools” quick change parts and adjustments increased customer’s throughout while reducing downtime.
