Our customer needed to take a single lane of containers and group them before sleeving. One application was needed to do this for both triangle and rectangular bottles.
The Morrison team devised a dual metering and grouping drive unit that accepted the single lane of triangle or rectangular shaped bottles, grouped and metered them appropriately so the sleeving application can successfully take over.
The timing screw geometry accepts the containers and groups them to create desired orientation. After grouping, the containers are discharged at a 7” pitch and presented to the sleever. Different screws are designed to the different containers so the same system can run multiple container sizes when needed. In the end, 45 groups (90 total containers) are created per minute.
Morrison included a Deluxe Adjuster on this project, which uses dials to adjust mounting easily as they can be quickly adjusted for fast and easy changeover.
This system was constructed from black anodized aluminum and food-safe UHMW plastic. This construction solution is scratch resistant, robust and lightweight.
Morrison’s dual metering and grouping custom drive assembly led to significant increases in the customer’s production line. By efficiently handling both triangle and rectangular bottles, the system allowed the customer to have smooth and uninterrupted sleeving operations. The ability to quickly adjust and changeover the system using the Deluxe Adjuster minimized downtime, enhancing overall operational efficiency. This innovative solution not only addressed the customer’s immediate challenge but also provided long-term benefits, demonstrating Morrison’s commitment to enhancing modern manufacturing processes through tailored solutions.
