Our customer needed to upgrade the current feeding solution for their hydro infeed conveyor to feed their cooking shelves. The solution needed to be flexible for multiple container sizes and repeatable with how the containers exit the system.
Morrison provided a machine that accepted full, sealed, upside down containers from a backlog and indexed them onto a hydro infeed conveyor. The system featured a heavy-duty design with timing screws to create an operator friendly machine with a repeatable adjustment method for fine tuning from the operator side.
The four-lane servo driven timing screw system featured an upper and lower system to index 20 containers per lane and feed them downstream.
The system met 99.5% efficiency requirements with acceptable product fed into the machine and a changeover time under 12 minutes. A precision adjuster was added to the system to provide precise up/down adjustment and numerical counter for repeatable set up, making this machine ideal to run multiple container sizes.
This system was constructed with stainless steel to allow for cleaning and durability in a low washdown environment.
In addition to feeding lug conveyors, indexing systems are often used for pulling a pitch for grouping, inline filling and other inline applications, as well as pick and place applications.
