Case Study: Turn and Group Custom Drive Assembly
INDUSTRY: Food | OPERATING SPEED: 400 CPM
CONTAINER: 12 OZ
Customer Container Handling Challenge: Our customer approached us needing a system to turn and group their containers to create 2, 3, and 4 packs of their product.
Morrison Solution: As suggested by the name, turn and group, the system’s goal is to accomplish what its name implies. Rather than using one, long and cumbersome set of screws as a unit to turn and group the containers, we separated those two actions to create a more efficient system.
The first set of screws turn the containers 90 degrees to prepare the containers for the desired set groupings. The second set of screws can be easily switched between 3 custom designed screw sets fabricated to produce groupings of 2, 3, or 4 containers. By separating those actions from one another and keeping the first set of screws the same, the operator only needs to swap out a small set of screws that group the containers into the desired packs. By doing so the system is more efficient, its changeover time is reduced, and less storage is needed for additional parts.
