Case Study: Metering Timing Screw Drive Unit Prior to Filling Application

Customer Container Handling Challenge: This customer needed to meter pepper containers and feed them into a rotary filler.

Morrison Solution: This timing screw drive unit accepts the empty pepper containers from a backlog and spaces them to feed into a starwheel for filling. The starwheel is part of the rotary filler.

Metering/spacing containers for filling is a common application necessary for many products to ensure proper spacing under a filler can occur for more accurate fills and less waste. Timing screws (feed screws) are low-cost solutions to perform this application.

This system was set up to run two different containers, a 6oz and 3oz and run between 150 and 180 containers per minute.

Each screw was created in different colors to coordinate with the product size and help with quick, tool-less changeover.
