Combining Glass Wine Bottles from Two Lanes into One

Alcohol Handling Solution

Case Study: Morrison Dual Combining Custom Drive Assembly

INDUSTRY: Alcohol | OPERATING SPEED: 150 CPM PER LANE / 300 CPM TOTAL

CONTAINER: Glass Wine Bottles

Customer Container Handling Challenge: This customer had small plant footprint constraints and needed a constant flow of containers combined into a common lane, quickly, despite their glass nature.

Morrison Solution: Our team built a dual custom timing screw drive unit accepts the two lanes of containers from a backlog and merges them into a single common lane. The timing (feed) screws discharge the containers 180 degrees out of phase to each other with a staggered pitch in order to combine them into one lane.

With the screws having positive control over the glass wine bottles, they are handled with minimal to no breakage at the rate of 150 containers per lane each minute or 300 containers a minute combined.

For adaptability for different wine bottle sizes, three sets of “No Tools” Quick Change screws were provided to make line changeover happen in a snap.

Construction: Black Anodized Aluminum
