Orienting syringes is a critical component to automating pharmaceutical packaging lines. Our customer needed a system to transfer syringes from a Bosch filler discharge to a timing screw infeed, supporting three syringe sizes on the same system. We created a custom solution that accepts a single lane of syringes, diverting them into two lanes via a 1-to-2 lane gate. An air conveyor fed the syringes to the timing screws, keeping product backed up for consistent flow.
The servo-driven timing screws oriented syringes in the same direction, aligning and indexing them to match the magazine pitch. Once filled, gripper rails secured the syringes, enabling smooth magazine transfer. With Morrison change parts, 5ml, 10ml, and 20ml syringes all run on this system efficiently.
